Cairo Indy

Are you looking forward to Indiana Jones IV (aka, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull)? I know I am!

I know this is a Star Wars site, but remember, it was George Lucas who invented Indy!

Here we have a second skin made by Mean_Obiwan, the first one having been reviewed a short time ago by Averus [file="89708"]here [/file]. This skin however is of Indy from the Cairo chase scene from Raiders, y’know the one where Marion is being carried off in a basket. Basically this means that Indy has no jacket, and has some cuts and scuffs to his face.

There is one problem with this though, the jacket is part of the character model, so the shirt has had to be textured [i]over[/i] the jacket. Personally I think the re-texturing job on the jacket is pretty good. Without looking closely you cant really tell that its skinned over the jacket, so well done to the author there! :)

However, once you look more closely, you can see that Indy’s forearms are textured on top of the jacket, which doesn’t look quite right, and that there are lumps and bumps on the shirt where there wouldn’t be if the jacket was actually taken off of the model.

One big plus side though is that this file has team skins too, however they aren’t just blue and red re-colours. The red team skin looks more like the Indy from Temple of Doom, with the ripped off shirt sleeves, and the blue team skin has a more beat up version of the jacket on.

All in all though I think this is a pretty good skin, though I do think there could be some improvements made here and there. Unfortunately of course, because the jacket is part of the character model, that rather limits the opportunities for re-skinning this model. One other thing I think could be added to the skin is some new sounds, perhaps a few sound bites from the Indy films for a new taunt and damage sounds.

This and the other Indy skin by this author are well timed for the release of the new Indiana Jones film though, so if you’re an Indy fan (like me :P) or just like the look of this skin, give it a download!
