version: Service Pack 1PLEASE NOTE: This service pack is for TRS2006 version 2.5, build 2761 only (the US retail version is build 2761). Please see the Release Notes later in this bulletin. You will find a guide on installing Service Pack 1 along with our recommendations on how to apply it below. Following is a list of items addressed by SP1 and the accompanying release notes. Service Pack 1 will be available on CD for the cost of postage and handling in a few weeks time. Pre-orders can be made at the Auran Shop now. All pre orders will be charged to your credit card or PayPal account at the time you place your pre order. SERVICE PACK 1 FEATURE LIST -The Monorail Project is included with SP1. Check the Extras link in the TRS2006 launcher menu. Please check the Downloads Link on the TRS2006 Website for more information at http://www.auran.com/TRS2006 >Downloads >Monorail Project -It is now possible to use CMP to suppress the warning which appears when loading maps with missing dependencies. -The validation template for error reporting has been updated to support more tags. -Improved communication from CMP. -Added CMP view description/thumbnail on DLS content. -Added �Autosave� feature to Surveyor - configurable in CMP. -Added option to view an asset's summary info using CMP. -Added option to disable rail joint noise. -CDP exported from CMP now compatible with Content Dispatcher -Add all local dependencies tab functionality fixed in CMP -Editing folder clean-up on starting CMP -Added optional �No Update� parameter for CMP so it does not attempt to retrieve updates -Issues with the CMP "launch Trainz" function fixed. -You can now use CMP to view a config on non protected items without opening for edit -Refresh pane button has been added to CMP. -A kind filter has been added to the kuid browser for CCP -CCP "edit" feature when creating a texture now allows the external application to save. -TrainzUtil issues have been fixed. -Trainzmap fully supported and V1.0 installer is included in "Extras" folder -GSE issues have been corrected -Session Rules Guide added to Extras folder -Restored uncouple message that some rolling stock relied upon for coupler animations. -Loading a map with a missing skybox no longer produces display errors. -Minimap camera/consist selection issue fixed. -Consist bar has been fixed so that you can use it to re-arrange vehicles in a consist for saving. -Buffer stops and other 'rail-end' assets will once again stop slow moving vehicles. -Rippling water effect is once again functioning under OpenGL on ATI cards. -Clicking on a signal message will teleport you to the cause. -Keywords can be backed up and restored. -iPortal train-control on receiving map fixed. -Some graphical artifacts in built-in content fixed. -Fixed time settings for Mag-Lev-delayed session. -Better support for .lm.txt in CCP -trainzutil can now export from a config file without opening it for edit -Some small improvements made to sound and particle systems RELEASE NOTES We recommend reading and following the Installation Guide at the end of these notes. Installation will appear to pause at approximately 12-14% for a substantial amount of time. Please be patient as this is to be expected. The complete installation can take up to 45 minutes or longer depending on your system specifications. Defragging of your HDD following the application of this patch is also recommended. Content Manager Plus: The auto save setting for Surveyor waits for your first save and then overwrites at the interval prescribed in CMP/Settings. If you choose to disable the Trainz error screen for missing dependancies, it can be restored at any time in CMP settings. "View Config" and "View mesh technical details" are dependant on permissions set in the content. For this reason there will be occasions when no useful data is returned. "View mesh technical details" will not return any useful information on aliased items or items which do not reference a mesh. Exiting from CMP while downloading an asset from the Download Station, then attempting to launch CMP and continue to downlowd will result in the message, "Server Full." This is due to the fact that your original FTP session is still active and you will need to wait for it to time out, approx. 1 minute. Driver: To disable the rail joint (clickety clack) sound add the following to trainzoptions.txt -disablerailjointsound Trainzmap: If a route is opened for editing in Surveyor after having been sent to TrainzMap, the two programs are using *two different copies* of the route and no change on one side will be effected on the other. Also when a route is opened in "read-only mode" no changes will be saved. A warning is displayed when this is the case. The "exit to Trainz" command is for when Trainz isn't already running. If you start Trainzmap from within Trainz, you need only alt+tab to switch back to Trainz. SP1 INSTALLATION GUIDE With the release of Service Pack 1 for Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 we have prepared this guide for applying SP1 to your Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 installation. A complete list of issues addressed in SP1 is available on the TRS2006 Website at http://www.auran.com/TRS2006 >Support >Service Packs DO NOT APPLY THIS SERVICE PACK TO TRAINZ, UTC or TRS2004. IF YOUR TRS2006 TRAINZ BUILD NUMBER IS ANYTHING OTHER THAN 2761 THIS PATCH WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU. To identify your build number, double click on your Trainz desktop icon, and from the Launch Menu select Launch Trainz > Start. Once launch is complete, you will find your Trainz version and build number located at the bottom right hand side of the screen. Note down the build number and select the Quit button to return you to the desktop. Download Service Pack 1 for Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 Build 2761 from the Service Packs page of the TRS2006 Website at http://www.auran.com/TRS2006 >Support >Service Packs Service Pack 1 is available to download right now and will be available on CD from the online store in the coming weeks for the cost of postage and handling. You will need to install Service Pack 1 on a fresh installation of TRS2006. A fresh installation means you have reinstalled TRS2006 and not launched it. You will need to backup any custom content including maps you have made or modified before uninstalling TRS2006. To save individual items of custom content: You will need to save all your custom content prior to re-installing TRS2006. To do this, Open CMP and select the asset or assets you wish to save. To backup your entire custom content collection by creating an Archive in Content Manager Plus: (Recommended) To do this, Open CMP and select the asset or assets you wish to archive. Refer to page 257 in the online manual for more details. To backup your entire custom content collection using Windows Explorer: (Recommended for experienced users only) Launch Windows Explorer, and navigate to the folder containing TRS 2006, usually C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2006 by default. Inside the TRS2006 folder, locate the folder named local. This folder contains all of the content that you have downloaded or installed using CMP. Copy this folder to a safe location in another folder, recordable media or to another drive. To Uninstall and Re-install TRS2006. ______________________________ Before uninstalling TRS2006 you will need your original software disk(s) and the 24 character serial number or CD key. Go to the control panel and select Add or remove programs. Find TRS2006 in the list and select Remove, then follow the prompts. DISABLE YOUR ANTI VIRUS SOFTWARE BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL ANY TRAINZ PRODUCT OR SERVICE PACK Before re-installing TRS2006 YOU MUST disable any Anti-virus software program and ensure no other programs are running in the background. Insert your TRS2006 CD or DVD and follow the onscreen prompts. When prompted enter your CD Key. You do not need to re-register at Planet Auran after reinstalling TRS2006. DO NOT RUN TRS2006 before installing Service Pack 1. Applying Service Pack 1 for Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006. _________________________________________________ DISABLE YOUR ANTI VIRUS SOFTWARE BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL ANY TRAINZ PRODUCT OR SERVICE PACK Do not run TRS2006 once you have re-installed it before installing Service Pack 1. We also recommend setting the entire TRS2006 directory to write enabled before patching. To do this right click on the TRS2006 folder and unselect �read only� and apply to all subfolders and files. If you received the patch on CD or have copied the downloaded patch to recordable media, such as a CD or DVD, DO NOT run the patch from there. Copy it to your hard disk drive, then launch the patch from your HDD! Double click on the patch to launch the installation. Follow the on screen prompts to install SP1. Installation will appear to pause at approximately 12-14% for a substantial amount of time. Please be patient as this is to be expected. The complete installation can take up to 45 minutes or longer depending on your system specifications. On completion of the installation you will see an Installation Complete notice. Please launch TRS2006 now to �Configure Trainz�. You do not need to re-register at Planet Auran after applying SP1. Configure TRS2006 by double clicking on the TRS2006 icon on your desktop. Select Options from the Launch Screen. Select the Planet Auran tab (if it is not selected for you). Enter your Login Details in the Username and Password fields. Your Username (nickname) and Password are those you selected for your Planet Auran profile. Select the Advanced Options tab. 1. Change your Resource Cache Size: (in the Texturing box) to half your installed RAM. If your computer has 256mb, set it to 128. If you have 512mb or more, set it to 256. 2. In the Refresh Rate box, ensure Vertical Sync: and Frequency: set to Auto. 3. In the Miscellaneous box all 3 small boxes should be un-ticked. Close the Configure Trainz window by clicking on OK at the bottom of the window. From the TRS2006 Launch Screen, select Launch Trainz. This sets your new settings in Configure Trainz. Once launch is completed, look for your Trainz version number and build number located at the bottom right hand side of the splash screen to confirm that the patch application was successful. Selecting the Quit button will return you to the desktop. Re-installing custom content. _________________________ Re-installing custom content from saving individual items of custom content: To Re-install your custom content, simply double click on the previously saved .cdp files. Re-installing custom content from an Archive made in Content Manager Plus: To reinstall custom content from an Archive file refer to page 257 in the online manual for further details. Re-installing custom content from backing up your entire custom content collection using Windows Explorer: Launch windows explorer, and navigate to the folder C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2006 Delete the file assets.tdx Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2006\Cache\internet If there is a file named assets.bku in the C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2006\Cache folder, delete it as well. Locate the local folder that you copied to a safe location Copy the local folder from your safe location back to the C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2006 folder. Close the Explorer window and launch TRS2006 Click on the Start button and wait for the main TRS 2006 screen where you select Surveyor / Driver / etc. There will be a short delay as your local folder is used to rebuild the asset database.
